Rudolf Josef Schmidt
Born Sept 11, 1933 in Lapancsa, a German village in Hungary. He immigrated from Germany to Canada in 1953. Rudolf valiantly fought bone cancer for 22 years. He passed on to be with the Lord on Mon. Feb.22, 2016 at Innisfree House Hospice, Kitchener; a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful and compassionate staff there. Rudy passed while surrounded by his loving family.
Rudy was the beloved husband of Anne Schmidt, married for 59 years. He was the father of Shirley & Ed Faul, Angela Schmidt and Joey Foster, and Terry & Marlene Schmidt. Dear Opa of Amyann Faul & Steve Pypker, Erin & Josh Salverda, Ashlie and Allie Schmidt, April & Matt Durrer, Alicia & Brad Jantzi, Abby & Ryan Jantzi, as well as to his eleven great grandchildren.
Rudy and Anne were resort owner-operators at Bayview Park Honey Harbour, Ontario for 14 years. Our Dad and Opa was an exceptional artist-painter. He was a craftsman, generously helping us fix or renovate anything; for this we are forever grateful. He had a passion for gardening and especially for caring for his roses, as well as the horses. We asked Dad what was the most important thing he learned from his life, and he replied “The Love of Family”. In an honourable act, Rudy donated is body for research to Guelph University. His Cremated remains will be buried in the Guelph University Memorial Garden at Woodland Cemetery, Guelph. Thanks to Memory Gardens Funeral Home for all their assistance.
