<div itemprop="description"><br />June Elaine Coates (nee Lindo) passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Grand River Hospital &ndash; Freeport Site, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 72 years. <br /> <br />June is survived by her husband Ledley, her daughters Sharon (Trevor Bridge), Alison McBride, Lisa Coates-Cameron (Dwayne), and Wanda Hodges (Wayne), her half-sister Marcia Dunbar-Funchess and half-brother Lawrence Dunbar, and eight grandchildren. <br />She is preceded in death by her father Stanford Lindo, her mother Hyacinth Lord, her sister Barbara Campbell (Roy), half-brother Ralph Dunbar. <br /> <br />June was born on May 31, 1942 in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica. She immigrated to England in 1954 with her mother and sister, Barbara and graduated from the Queen Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1961 with a degree in Sick Children&rsquo;s Nursing and General Nursing, specializing in midwifery. She married Ledley Coates, a Public Health Inspector in 1969. After moving to Canada with their infant daughter Sharon in 1970 to be with Ledley, and finally settling in Kitchener, Ontario, June began working at Freeport Hospital as a Registered Nurse, Evening Supervisor. June was also Director of The Community Nursing Registry of Kitchener-Waterloo in the 1990&rsquo;s. <br /> <br />June was a lifelong member of the Church of God of Prophecy and demonstrated her faith in God by loving and helping anyone, whether at home or overseas. She was a dedicated volunteer and shared her time and talents with various charities and agencies in Waterloo Region and has been recognized for her volunteerism over the years. June will also be best remembered for her gourmet cooking passion and needle arts including knitting, crochet and embroidery. <br /> <br />Visitation will be on Friday, February, 13, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home &amp; Cemetery, 2723 Victoria St N., Kitchener (Breslau), Ontario. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2015, 1:00 p.m., also at Memory Gardens Funeral Home &amp; Chapel. The ceremony will be officiated by Pastor Lincoln Crosdale. All are welcome to attend and celebrate June's life. Condolences to the family may be left and flowers sent to Memory Gardens at www.memorycemetery.ca or 1-519-648-2888.
