<div itemprop="description">HENDRY, James “Jim or Jimmy” has passed away peacefully in his 85 year, surrounded by family on April 29th, 2016 at The Wenleigh Long Term Care Residence in Mississauga. <br> <br>He is loved and dearly missed by his wife Sylvia Patricia “Grace” Hendry (nee Hornett) residing at the Wenleigh, his daughter Elizabeth Green (nee Hendry) and her husband Richard and grandchildren Amber Rose and Ronin, all of Mississauga. Jim is survived by his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Martin of Guelph, nephew Hugh Martin and his wife Heather of Guelph. He is survived by niece Jean and husband Jim Hughes, niece Marion and husband Manus McTear, nephew Jim and wife Rhona McInnes, nephew George and wife Nancy Hendry and nephew Adam Hendry and their families, all of Scotland. He is predeceased by his sister Sally McInnes of Scotland, brother Adam and his wife May Hendry of Scotland, and his brother-in-law Hugh Martin of Guelph. <br> <br>Jim was born in Bellshill, Scotland on May 15th, 1931 to George and Jeanie (nee Sutherland) Hendry. He joined the British Merchant Marines in 1948, emigrated to Canada in 1957 and married Grace Hornett in 1958, settling happily in Guelph. They had a daughter, Elizabeth. Jim worked at Korzite Paints as Head Shipper and Receiver for 26 years. Concurrently, he worked for the City of Guelph as Head of Security for Parks and Recreation for 20 years. Jim worked full time for the City of Guelph at Public Works, from 1987 retiring in 1996. During his retirement he was thrilled to become a Grandfather to Amber Rose and Ronin Green. In 2011, Jim moved to Mississauga into care at the Wenleigh where he has served as Vice President of Residents Council, until his passing. Jim was charismatic, caring and helpful to those around him and his sense of humour will be fondly remembered by everyone he met. Our family would like to thank the Staff and friends who cared for Jim and Grace during his time at the Wenleigh. <br> <br>Friends and Family are invited to attend Jim’s Celebration of Life at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, (2723 Victoria St. N. Breslau 519 904 0400) off Hwy # 7 between Guelph and Kitchener on May 9th, 2016. Visitation from 11 am till 2 pm. Funeral Service at 2 pm with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to Parkinson’s Disease Research. The online Book of Condolences can be found on Memory Garden’s website. <br></div>
