CROSBY, GERALDINE “GERRY” (NEE MARKS)
Peacefully at the Emmanuel Village Retirement Home on Saturday, February 14, 2015, age 88.

Beloved wife of Gordon Crosby. Loving mother of Cameron (Peggy) and Gary Michael (d.1971). Gerry was a proud grandmother of Michael (Alysia Kolentsis), Kate (Ben Martin), and Gary. Great grandmother to Lucia, Liam, Anna, and Alexandra. Sister of the late Victor Marks (Pat) and Barbara Verwitche, and Aunty ‘Gooey’ to Sharon Lee Marks, Tim Marks, Patricia Kirby, Paul Marks, and Robert Noyes Sr. Great Aunt to Moira, Aubra, Reilly, Mckenzie, Chase, Carson, and Robert Noyes Jr.

Born and raised in East York, Geraldine showed an early love for music in learning to overcome a stutter. This love would lead to her become a trained soprano who applied her trade every Sunday singing for the choir, first at Donway United Church in Don Mills, and later at St. James Rosemount in Kitchener, as well as the Kitchener Philharmonic Choir. Those fortunate enough to hear her solos, were doubly lucky when they could enjoy her famous butter tarts after a service.

Although Toronto was her first home, Gerry and her family relocated to Kitchener when her husband, Gord, purchased the local Volkswagen dealership in 1966. She acclimatized quickly to the community, especially with both her teenage sons then playing for the Kitchener Rangers. The loss of her son Gary at age 20 was a devastating blow, but Gerry’s faith in God helped her endure.

Gerry will be remembered for her love for and devotion to her family. She was fiercely proud of her sons, delighted by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she adored her husband. Their bond of nearly 70 years was a model of commitment, strength and love.

The family is grateful for the care Gerry received at Emmanuel Village, Grand River Hospital, and from Dr. Lee-Poy.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2723 Victoria St. N, Breslau, ON (519-904-0400) on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 3:00 p.m., followed by interment in Memory Gardens Cemetery, reception to follow. If desired, memorial donations to The Salvation Army, War Amps or The Working Centre would be appreciated.
