It is with great sadness we announce that after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Ervin Reinhard Peters passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and loved ones on Monday, December 19, 2016.

Ervin was born to Rosa and Gerhardt Peters in Lethbridge, Alberta on April 7, 1957. There he trained as a classical musician and a fine artist at The University of Lethbridge as well as the renowned Banff School of Fine Arts where some of his art currently resides. Ervin later practiced art in New York City and then in Toronto, Ontario where he met his beloved Carolyn (Schellenberg) in 1988. The two fell in love and wed in 1991. They gave birth to their first child (Julia) in 1992. Ervin was a very proud and loving father and husband. This beautiful family of three welcomed their second child (Sabastian) in 2001. Ervin was a tender father and a man devoted to family. In 2005, they moved to Cambridge, Ontario to continue to build a loving and safe environment for their children. Sabastian, Julia and Carolyn were the heart and soul of Ervin. He loved them deeply and protected them with ferocity. The family surrounded Ervin with love and comfort as he battled with Alzheimer’s. They visited him often at Sunnyside Senior’s Home and showered him with love and support. The children could often be seen in their father’s loving embrace.

Ervin has now passed on to a place of peace, and he will forever be loved and remembered by his wife, Carolyn, his daughter, Julia and his son, Sabastian.

Raised in a family that was rooted in music, philosophy and a gift for laughter that he held until his final days, Ervin will be dearly missed by his loving mother Rosa, sisters Ruth (Stephen) and Rose (Jeff), and his brothers Rolund (Claire), Richard (Ellie), Rudy (Patti) and Helmut. In memorandum, he survived his father Gerhardt who profoundly encouraged his artistic pursuits and is remembered in this tribute.

Ervin will also be loved and missed by his loyal and supportive Schellenberg family; mother-in-law Susan, father-in-law Ernie, and brother-in-laws Matt, Greg, David (Chris) and Mark (Val) who loved and steadfastly supported him as son and brother.

Our collective loss is immeasurable, his beauty and legacy we hold dearly. We are here with you forever in love.

Family and friends will be received at the Memory Gardens Funeral Home 2723 Victoria St. N. Breslau 519 904 0400 on Tuesday December 27, 2016 from 11 – 1 p.m. for a time to share and remember Ervin. Interment to follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated. If so desired a book of online condolences may be signed at www.memorycemetery.ca
