Anita Mowat (nee Harnack) passed away suddenly at her home in Blair on August 3 2016. She was diagnosed with cancer only a few short weeks before and neither she nor her family was prepared for her to be taken so soon. We can take comfort in knowing that she spared her children many long days at the hospital and that she is reunited with her loving husband Jerome, who passed away only four months earlier.
Anita was born on April 28 1954 to parents Barbara (nee Hummel) and Wilfrid Harnack. She grew up on the family farm in Breslau one of fourteen children. She graduated from Grand River High school in Kitchener and went on to become a hairdresser. She met Jerome, fell in love and then married. They bought an old house, made it their own and happily raised their family in Blair.
Anita is survived by her daughters, Casey, Alaura and Georgia and also her granddaughters, Madison and Preslee. May they find strength in each other and from all the people that love them so very much. She is also survived by bothers Jim(Donna) Cliff, Ken and sisters Virginia (Terry) Laurel (Doug) Joan, Alanna(Mike) and Louise(Butch). And so many wonderful nieces and nephews that we cannot name them all here.
Anita is predeceased by her parents Barbara (nee Hummel) and Wilfrid Harnack and her brothers David, Allan, Willard , Larry and sister Arleen also by three sister-in-laws, Marg, Brenda and Judy.
Anita lived for her family. She welcomed us into her home, comforted and united us. She nursed her husband when he was ill, never leaving his side and tried to protect her children from any pain. She was so humble that she could never know how beautiful, generous and caring she was to us all. No words can describe how much she will be missed.
A celebration of Anita’s life will be held at later date . Her family thanks you for your understanding and prayers.
As per Anita’s wish private viewing has been held for the family. Any memorial donations can be made to the Sick Kids Hospital or the Children’s Make a Wish foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Memory Gardens Funeral Home 2723 Victoria St. N. Breslau (Kitchener) 519 904 0400. If so desired a book of online condolences may be signed at www.memorycemetery.ca
